FRASER VALLEY GOLF TEAM WINS
BC SUMMER GAMES

VANCOUVER, B.C. (July 26, 2008) - Soo Bin Kim of Port Coquitlam put together two stellar rounds to take home the gold at the 2008 BC Summer Games in Kelowna.

Kim, the only girl to fire both rounds under par carded a total 12 birdies to finish at 11-under 135, just one shot ahead of second-place finisher Christine Wong of Richmond.

Wong, was the early leader after posting a bogey free nine-under par 64 on day one to set the course record at the Kelowna Golf & Country Club.

Lauren Taylor of Nelson and Anica Yoo of Port Coquitlam tied for third at two-over 148 and took home bronze medals.

In the boys' division, gold medals were awarded to Dallas Pepper of Vernon and Yohann Vora of the Zone 4 BCGA Player's Club for a first place tie at one-over 145. Michael Belle of Burnaby finished alone in third and claimed bronze at four-over 148.

The team from the Fraser Valley finished in first place at
followed by Fraser River-Delta a and Vancouver island Central Coast at 406.

CHRISTINE WONG SETS COURSE RECORD DAY ONE 2008 BC SUMMER GAMES

Richmond’s Christine Wong fired an opening round nine- under 64 to take the early lead at the 2008 BC Summer Games in Kelowna, B.C..

“I had fun today, the course is in great shape," says sixteen-year-old Wong representing Zone 4 – Fraser Valley-Delta for the Games. 

She placed 3rd at the BC Junior Girls’ provincial championship earlier this month and will represent British Columbia on the provincial team at the Royale National Junior Girls Championship in Winnipeg, from August 4-8.

Following the completion of play at the 2008 BC Summer Games, Wong will head to Calgary, Alberta to represent BC at the prestigious Girls Junior Americas Cup.
