Past B.C. Senior Women’s champions, Lynda Palahniuk (2002) of Kelowna, B.C. fired even-par for second place at 10-over 223 followed by 2003 B.C. Senior Women’s champion, Phyllis Laschuk of Vancouver, B.C. at 12-over 225. Elaine Blatchford of Surrey, B.C. rallied to hold on for fourth place with 13-over 226 while Karen Pultz of Surrey, B.C. rounded out the top five at 228. Reigning Canadian Senior Women’s champion, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C. claimed 6 th place at 16-over 229, two shots ahead of defending champion Holly Horwood of Vancouver, B.C. Little, Palahniuk, Laschuk and Blatchford will represent British Columbia in the provincial team competition at the Royal Canadian Senior Women’s Championship August 25-28, 2008 at the Bally Haly G&CC-St. John's, NFLD. The B.C. Senior Women’s Amateur is one of 12 provincial championships conducted annually by the BCGA. The B.C. Good Day for a Little Round -2008 B.C. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship- VERNON, B.C. June 18, 2008 – Jackie Little of Port Alberni, B.C. fired the day’s low round 3-under par 68 to stay at the top of the leaderboard at the 2008 B.C. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship being held at Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club in Vernon, B.C. Little heads into the final round nine strokes ahead of Elaine Blatchford of Surrey, B.C. sitting at 7-over 149. Victoria’s Alison Murdoch made a move to sit alone in third at 9-over 151. Past B.C. Senior Women’s champions, Lynda Palahniuk (2002) of Kelowna, B.C. and Phyllis Laschuk (2003) of Vancouver, B.C. share fourth place at 10-over 152. Defending champion, Holly Horwood of Vancouver, B.C. sits in a four-way tie for 10 th at 159. Following today’s competition, the Zone Net/Gross and Club Net/Gross winners were announced. Marine Drive players, Carol Kirkwood and Lorna Roxburgh, won the Club Team Net Competition. The Club Team Gross Competition was claimed by the Vancouver Golf Club team of, Tia Chisholm and Conny Rosen. From Zone 6, Jackie Little playing out of Alberni Golf Club and Dee Horie playing out of Crown Isle Golf Club took the Zone Net Competition. The Zone Gross competition was won by Zone 3 competitors, Elaine Blatchford playing out of the Surrey Golf Course and Karen Pultz playing out of Peace Portal Golf Course. The final round is tomorrow with the winner claiming the Lucy Markham trophy. Jackie Little Makes Senior Women’s Debut at Top of Leaderboard VERNON, B.C. June 17, 2008 – Port Alberni’s Jackie Little shot 1-over 72 today to take the first-round lead at the 2008 B.C. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship being held at Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club in Vernon, B.C. Little, the reigning Canadian Mid-Amateur/Master Champion carded birdies at holes 1, 7, 11 and 17 to lead Elaine Blatchford of Surrey, B.C. by one stroke heading into Wednesday’s round. Penny Baziuk of North Saanich, B.C. is alone in third at 4-over. Lynda Palahniuk of Kelowna, B.C., Karen Pultz of Surrey, B.C., Vicki Torbet of Richmond, B.C. and Val Westell of Coquitlam, B.C. share a hold of fourth at 5-over 76. Two-time defending champion, Holly Horwood of Vancouver, B.C. sits tied for 20 th with two others at 12-over. 2007 Canadian Senior Women’s champion, Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C. is tied at 7-over with Beverly McGladery of Vancouver, B.C. Senior Women’s Championship - BC amateur legend Jackie Little set to make B.C. Senior debut - VERNON, B.C. (June 13, 2008) – Four-time B.C. Women’s Amateur champion Jackie little of Port Alberni, B.C. is only days away from making her provincial senior debut as she headlines a field of top women senior golfers from June 17-19 at the 34th B.C. Senior Women’s Championship, conducted by the British Columbia Golf Association (BCGA). Little, will join a field of 99 players at Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club in Vernon, B.C. including reigning champion Holly Horwood of Vancouver, B.C. as well as the 2007 Canadian, Irish, and British Senior Women’s champion and 2005 B.C. Senior Women’s champion Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C. “We are very excited to bring the B.C. Senior Women’s Championship back to Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club,” said Kris Jonasson, executive director of the BCGA. “The B.C. Senior Women’s is a highlight of our championship series - the event promises some great golf and a very successful tournament.” Other notables looking to claim top honours at Spallumcheen include 2002 B.C. Senior Women’s champion Lynda Palahniuk of Kelowna, B.C., Vernon resident and former B.C. Senior Women’s champion Billie Bartley of Vernon, B.C., and 2001 B.C. Senior Women’s champion Vicki Torbet of Richmond, B.C. The event will also play host to the Club and Zone Team Championships being held in conjunction with the first two rounds of play. The B.C. Senior Women’s Championship is open to women amateur golfers who have reached their 50th birthday by June 17, 2008. The winner will be awarded the Lucy Markham Trophy. The championship is conducted at stroke play over 54 holes with no cut. Championship play will be conducted Tuesday, June 17 through Thursday, June 19, with 18 holes of stroke play each day.
