The External Sport Credits program began in 1997 and is designed to recognize the level of participation which you are involved in as an elite level athlete in British Columbia. It includes athletes who are competing on provincial or national teams, are Team BC members attending the Western Canada Summer Games or the Canada Summer or Winter Games, as well as BC and National Athlete Assistance recipients.

Students seeking credits for a sport course or program are required to present specific documentation as proof of participation or completion. Provincial sport organizations will provide verification letters for sport specific athlete programs, Team BC programs and participation in the BC Athlete Assistance Program. In addition, the provincial sport organizations will review the submitted documentation for the official and coach categories and issue a letter verifying completion if the student has fulfilled all the requirements.
