Aaron Baddeley World Junior Championship BCGA team photos 2007 here Sunday, November 25, 2007 1:48 AM Day 1 Hello Everyone, We've arrived safely in China and we've just about wrapped up day 1... or day 3??... anyway, it's Sunday. The flight was long but certain players were able to sleep like you wouldn't believe. I think Jonnie managed to sleep away about 11 hours of the 14+ hour journey. We arrived just before 7am this morning and made our way to the resort. It's very nice and new... however, not too many people speak English. We had a much anticipated shower and ate at the Western Restaurant that's part of the hotel. Lunch was great and then we hopped a quick shuttle to the golf course and spent a few hours chipping and putting. The course seems nice, but sure looks narrow. It will be a quiet night with an early supper and then an early night. Lindsay, Lynn & Team BC Monday, November 26, 2007 5:14 AM Day 2 Hello Everyone, Today was a great day. We had a chance to sleep in and everyone seems to have recovered quite well from the jet lag. We had a late breakfast and then got ready to head to the course for the afternoon. The team practiced until lunch and then we had a chance to use the driving range today. Let's just say that while it was good to be swinging, it was a bit tough to look at the squirrelly ball flight from the dimple-less golf balls! After lunch, all seven of us had an intense 18 hole, par 54 short game competition... congratulations to Zack for picking up the victory with a clutch putt on the final hole. We also had a chance to play on a practice hole and get a feel for the very different grass. The resort is starting to get busier as more teams have arrived throughout the day. Good thing for the team as I think they're starting to get a bit bored with the resort as there's very little to do other than golf. Things start to get a bit more interesting tomorrow... we have an early start to the day with registration, team photos (with Aaron), the practice round and a special field trip tomorrow night. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 6:50 AM Day 3 Hello Everyone, Today was a very busy day. We started with registration where we filled up on goodies and then posed for team pictures with Aaron. We also met our Chinese caddies for the first time. They are very good but speak very little English. It's a good lesson in patience and creativity to make the best use of their services. We got our first look at the golf course today. It's a challenging golf course with many blind shots off the tee requiring accurate tee shots. Most holes have water in play, often not visible from the tee. The greens are quite firm and you definitely don't want to be above the hole. While the golf course is challenging it is not unfair. I think with some smart plays and learning from the caddies there will be some low scores out there. One of the biggest factors of the tournament will be the wind. It was very strong at times today through the round... a lot like Kamloops wind. We finished off the day with a bus trip into Guangzhou to the circus. It was a very impressive mix of Cirque du Soleil type acts tied in with animal tricks. We saw elephants, tigers, hippos, bears - it was wild! Now we're off to bed for another busy day tomorrow with the second practice round, an Am-Am tournament with many Chinese VIPs. Wednesday, November 28, 2007 5:16 AM Day 4 Hello Everyone, We have made it through another day in China. The girls started off the day early with their second practice round while the boys attended the official press conference. Aaron put on a clinic for the players before lunch that was very interesting. Before we teed off in the afternoon shotgun Am-Am event, Morgan, Jonnie and I went up for some lunch. It was quite busy so we sat in the VIP room by mistake because it was empty. It was great timing as Aaron made his way in and joined us for lunch. On the golf course Zack had the opportunity to play 3 holes with Aaron. Overall a great day at the golf course. The official welcome dinner was also tonight. The team looked great in their jackets and BCGA crests. Jonnie provided a little entertainment as he volunteered to be a part of the magic show. The players are feeling both excited and prepared to play tomorrow. Lindsay, Lynn and Team BC Thursday November, 29, 2007 4:05 AM Hello Everyone!!
Today was the first round of the tournament. Conditions were tough with gusty winds, quick greens and some tough pin placements. The golf course isn't forgiving... poorly placed tee shots leave difficult approach shots to greens where you can't be above the hole. The players were definitely feeling a little frustrated with the greens and putting today. The scores overall were quite high for the field.

Day 7 - third round Hello Everyone!!
I'm pleased to announce that today was a better day. Everyone improved on yesterday's scores and seemed to conquor some demons! Putting continues to be our nemesis but the players are starting to feel the greens are manageable and that the birdies are out there. The team is holding steady in 4th position. We're about 44 shots behind 3rd place Japan and about 30 ahead of 5th. Keun is leading the team tied for 9 place. We're all excited to move our way up the leaderboard again tomorrow!!
Keun - 73
Zach - 74
Jonnie - 74
Morgan - 76
Anica - 79 Sunday December 2, 2007 8:21 AM Hello Everyone!! We had another strong day of play today to take 4th place in the team competition behind Australia, Chinese Tapei and Japan. We some more success on the greens and moved up the leaderboard again. Keun had the best finish of the group in 8th place. It was an exciting day with lots of birdie chances and many good shots. It was also an interesting day for Lynn - she was recruited to be a rules official today. Overall a positive end to the week. I think we're all looking forward to a day off tomorrow... more shopping!
