Wong and Yang win Junior Masters Nanaimo, B.C. (Wednesday, July 25) – Eugene Wong of North Vancouver, B.C. finished the Junior Masters Stroke Play at 6-under par 138 to take first place at the 2007 Junior Master’s Championship at Nanaimo Golf Club.
Wong, a member of the National Junior Boys’ team, was the only boy to finish under par after two days of stroke play. His opening round 8-under par 64 and second round 2-over par 74 earned him the title by six strokes over second place finisher, Riley Wheeldon of Comox, B.C. Andy Yang of Coquitlam, B.C., Cameron Harris of Maple Ridge, B.C. and Jonnie Motomochi of Delta, B.C. finished tied for third at 1-over par 145 Sixteen players have advanced to match play in the boys’ division. In the first Junior Masters' championship for girls, Jennifer Yang of Coquitlam, B.C. took the girls’ Junior Master’s title with 6-over par 150 followed by Anica Yoo of Port Coquitlam, B.C. at 14-over 158 and Alana Norris of Nanaimo, B.C. at 29-over 173.
