Sorenstam’s New Golf Course Gives New British Columbia junior golfer, Kate Weir of Trail, B.C. got the chance of a lifetime Monday when she got to present LPGA champion, Annika Sorenstam with a gift. Sorenstam was in town to help announce a new 18-hole championship golf course located at the base of Mount Grey in Rossland. The course has been designed by Sorenstam and renowned coursed architect Thomas McBroom. Sorenstam, a former national level skier in Sweden, returns to the mountains, setting her latest golf course design at the base of some of the world’s best skiing — giving new meaning to the term slope rating.
Red Mountain Resort, one of Western Canada and British Columbia’s oldest ski resorts — and an area that’s also home to world-class mountain biking, hiking and trail running in the non-winter months will break ground in the spring of 2009 on the 18-hole, 7,071-yard par 71 Golf Club at Red Mountain. |
